The elections commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya is commencing an observation tour in the Uva province today in order to investigate into the complaints received in relation to the Uva polls.
Deputy elections commissioner M.H. Mohammed said the commissioner will be touring the Monaragala and Badulla areas until the 9th of this month.
He further noted that they have received 132 complaints regarding violations of election laws and election violence related incidents.
Deputy elections commissioner M.H. Mohammed said that following the observation tour in Uva, the elections commissioner will engage in a discussion with the officials of the Human Rights Commission in Monaragala on the 9th.
Meanwhile, According to the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya, Uva provincial council election will be held in 2 phases if the situation in Uva province cannot be controlled.
