Police says that a soothsayer has been arrested in connection with a girl gone missing from Ambakolawaeva in Genewatta, Kurunegala.

Police said that it had been revealed that the soothsayer frequently visited the house where the girl lived.

However no definite information about the missing girl has so far come to light.

The parents said that a certain gang had carried away the child after cutting the polythene sheet covering the windows of the house and cutting off also a portion of the mosquito net.

Waellawa police has queried the girl’s parents and several others about the child’s disappearance and recorded statements from them.

Police media spokesman’s office said that six special police squads including a team of CID officers had been deployed.

Meanwhile, Police says that the three students of the Harischandra Mahaavidyaalaya of Raajaanganaya in Thambuttegama in Anuradhapura who had gone missing have returned to their homes.
