IGP to Monaragala to inquire about security in UVA.-Video
IGP N.K. Illangakoon is due to visit Moneragala District today to inquire into the security measures for the upcoming Uva provincial election.
Extra security have already been deployed due to numerous reports of incidents breaching the election law
Security is beefed up upon a request made by the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya
According to the PAFFREL organization, 244 complaints have been received regarding the Uva election
The Executive Director of the organization Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that among the complaints 173 were related to Moneragala District while 69 were related to Badulla district.
Several party offices of the JVP in Thana-mal-wila area, Moneragala have also been damaged last night.
However, Police have received only 63 complaints regarding the election thus far, while a majority of the complaints have been received from Moneragala District.
