The passport of UPFA Wanathavilluwa Pradeshiya Sabha member M.S. Sultan who allegedly abused 7 school students has been frozen.

Having considered Wanathavilluwa police request, Puttalam Acting Magistrate Fazal Abu Thahir has ordered the Emigration and Immigration Controller to suspend the passport in order to prevent him from fleeing the country.

88 male and female students of a Muslim school in Karativu have gone on an excursion to Weligama on 2nd of this month.

5 male teachers, 6 female teachers and 3 members of school development committee have participated in the trip.

Police said the Pradeshiya Sabha member has participated in the trip in the capacity of a school development committee member.

The students and their caretakers have spent the first night in a Mosque at Kapparatota in Weligama.

A senior officer attached to the Wanatha-villuwa police who conducted investigation into the incident told our news team the PS member has allegedly committed the offence inside the Mosque.

However the PS member has fled the area after the incident and police received information that the suspect is planning to flee the country.

The Wanathavilluwa police stated a court order is sought to prevent the suspect fleeing the country.
