Accordingly the two companies, Singapore Swiss and Unipec will import 1.2 million metric tons of diesel and petrol.

Singapore Swiss and Unipec imported oil for the corporation in the past as well.

Petroleum Corporation Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya General Secretary Ananda Palitha stated the value of oil to be imported by the two companies will be over 110 billion rupees.

The Cabinet has approved the oil import transaction, and Ananda Palitha alleged that the Petroleum Corporation authorities have misled the Cabinet in this transaction.

When our news team enquired about the allegation from the Petroleum Corporation acting Chairman S. Amarasekera said the two companies have been permitted to import oil without calling tenders only for the next 6 months.

He also said this action was taken to face the situation in the event world oil prices go up.
