Investigations regarding cops who obtain commissions by directing clients to their favorite lawyers
An investigation has been initiated led by a SSP to probe whether certain police officers attached to Mt. Lavinia police had directed clients to their favorite lawyers intending to claim commission from them.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told our news team that Mt. Lavinia Lawyers’ Association President Athula Ranagala made an oral complaint yesterday to Mt. Lavinia Court in connection with this allegation.
Later Mt. Lavinia Chief Magistrate Rangajeeva Wimalasena ordered the Court Registrar to inform the IGP to make an inquiry to the complaint and inform the Supreme Court.
When our news team contacted Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said a probe led by a SSP on the instruction of the DIG in charge of the area has been initiated.
