President Mahinda Rajapaksa said mudslinging and grumbling would neither contribute to development nor it creates national unity.

He said without realizing the true facts, it has become a habit to insult and laugh at great services that are rendered to the country.

President Rajapaksa expressed these views during the 150th birth anniversary of Buddhist revivalist Anagarika Dharmapala held at the Independence Memorial hall in Colombo today.

The Maha Sangha, Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathna, foreign ambassadors and High Commissioners and school students participated in the ceremony.

In order to pay tribute to the great services of Dharmapala, the president named September 17th as Dharmapala Day and he also declared a Year of Dharmapala which starts from today.

Speaking further President Rajapaksa said that the government’s development action plan is locally and internationally important to the country.
