Two female university students have been hospitalized after they were hit by a motor car driven by a 16-year old school boy.

A Colombo National Hospital spokesman said one of the girls is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit.

The other girl has also received head injuries following the accident.

The two girls in the final-year of the Management Faculty of Kelaniya University met with the accident at Wewal-duwa neighborhood on Hunupitiya Aluth Mawatha in Kiribathgoda while they were returning home last evening.

The Kiribathgoda police said the student had driven the motor car at high speed at the time of the accident.

Mahara Chief Magistrate Darshika Wimalasiri ordered to hold the boy till tomorrow in the approved children home at Makola when he was produced before the court today.

The suspect who is residing in Dalupitiya area and studying in a leading school in Colombo was also ordered to pay compensation of one hundred thousand rupees to each victim.
