A group of senior officers of the Election Secretariat including Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya are touring the Moneragala district at this moment.

The transport of ballot boxes to 834 polling stations commenced from the Badulla and Moneragala District Secretariats at 7 this morning.
Nearly nine hundred and forty thousand voters of Badulla and the Moneragala districts have been qualified to cast their vote in the election on September 20th.
At the same time, 12,500 government servants and another 12,500 police personnel including 1000 STF and intelligence service personnel have been deployed on election duty.
In addition, all schools in the two districts will be kept close today for the election.
Besides, the Excise Department announced that all wine stores in the two districts will be kept close on the polls day, September 20th.
However the police said that a special operation was initiated yesterday to prevent illegal propaganda activities.
