Transportation of Ballot boxes is concluded; 11 police riot squads on standby.-Video
The transportation of ballot boxes to 516 polling stations of the Badulla district has now been concluded.
At the same time, Moneragala District Secretary A. Pathinadan stated that the ballot boxes were transported to 318 polling stations in the Moneragala district.
The Uva Provincial Council election will be held at 834 polling stations from 7 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon tomorrow.
Nine hundred and forty two thousand voters of the two districts have been qualified to cast their vote at tomorrow’s polls.
At the same time, 617 candidates are contesting for 18 seats for the Badulla district and 14 seats for the Moneragala district.
Meanwhile Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya toured in the two districts today to observe the prevailing situation and give instructions to his officials.
Subsequently addressing a media briefing at the Badulla District Secretariat this afternoon, the Election Commissioner requested the voters to cast their vote as the voting is their right.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said 232 mobile patrol units will be deployed during the Uva Provincial Council polls day.
The police media spokesman said 57 permanent road barriers have already been set up throughout Uva Province.
