16 former UVA councillors loose seats.
Sixteen Government and Opposition councilors of the preceding provincial council who had contested at the Uva provincial council election this time lost their seats.
Former councilors R. A. R. Bandusena, Maanel Ratnayake, J. M. Gunatilake, Ajith Deshapriya, Sumith Samayadaasa, Nimal Ratnaayaka, Ajith Liyanagey, Dayaaratna Bandaara, Anil Waelivita and K. M. Sirisena who had represented the former previous provincial council from the UPFA lost their seats at the council this time.
R. Kulatunga who had represented the Uva provincial council from the UNP too lost his seat this time.
Meanwhile Ravi Gunawardhana who had served as UNP Bandarawela electorate organizer had joined the UPFA before the provincial council election.
However he too failed to be elected to the provincial council this time.
Similarly Mihimal Munasinghe who had joined the UNP from the UPFA too failed to be elected to the provincial council this time.
W. A. Udaya Kumaara who had joined the UPFA from the National Freedom Front and contested for the Moneragala District as an independent candidate due to non-receipt of nomination from the UPFA too failed to obtain a seat at the new provincial council.
Meanwhile it is significant that Sujeewa Jayasinghe who had represented the Government at the former provincial council, did not contest at the provincial council this time.
