A pair of shoes worn by Cultural and Art Minister T.B. Ekanayake has been received a value of several million rupees.

The heel of the minister’s shoe was disbanded while the minister was participating in an official ceremony held with the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping at the President’s Secretariat on 17 of this month.

A foreign correspondent photographed this incident and the picture went viral after it was released to the Internet.

The minister said that several collectors of curio items have offered him bids of several million rupees for the broken shoe after the video was uploaded on the Internet.

The Minister told our news team that he decided to auction the broken shoes and a special committee has already been appointed to handle the auction.
