Peace has brought many benefits to Sri Lanka - says UK
The United Kingdom said today that peace has brought many benefits to Sri Lanka and the British government will continue to support the island nation's reconciliation process.
Issuing a statement to mark the 32nd International Day of Peace, British Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Laura Davies said Peace in Sri Lanka has brought many additional benefits, including opportunities for economic growth and political participation.
Recalling that today is also the first anniversary of the first Northern Provincial Council elections, the envoy said the "UK continues to support Sri Lanka in its quest to further consolidate reconciliation, democracy and human rights in the country."
