Kahatagaha miners continue their Fast 1100 feet underground.
The protest staged by 75 workers attached to the Kahatagaha Mine at Maduraagoda in Kurunegala 1,132 feet underground is still continuing.
The protestors demanded the authorities to make them permanent, increase salaries and stop squandering of company money by certain high authorities.
75 workers out of 100 who descended into the mine this morning have informed the authorities about their protest underground.
Graphite Lanka Limited Chairman D. Kalansuriya, Ridiyagama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairperson Kumari Pallemulla and North Western Provincial Councilor R.D. Wimaladasa had a discussion with the protesters last afternoon.
After the discussion failed, the miners threatened that they would further descend the mine up to 2000 feet and begin a fast unto death unless their demands are met.
