A suspect who assaulted a provincial journalist during the clash between the supporters of UPFA and UNP near a police post in Hali Ela last Monday afternoon has been arrested.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that another 12 suspects involved in the attack have also been identified.
The clash erupted when a group of UNP supporters marching near a police post in Hali Ela on Monday afternoon.
Soon after the clash, UNP Uva Provincial Council Chief Ministerial candidate Harin Fernando also arrived at the scene.
At that moment, an attack was unleashed on Harin Fernando’s vehicle as well as the vehicle belonging to Hiru News correspondent Palitha Ariyawansa.
