A proposal was passed today at the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha council imposing a suspension on a JVP councillor for 3 months.

The Chairman of the council Pushpa-kumara Battage told our news team that the proposal was passed today after the JVP councillor used abusive words during the council’s monthly meeting.

Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha council is comprised of 20 councillors including the chairman, while 15 among them represent the UPFA.

The opposition of the council is represented by 5 UNP councillors and a JVP councillor, in addition to an independent councillor.

All councillors except 2 councillors from the ruling party attended today’s council meeting.
