The Bureau of Foreign Employment says that investigations have revealed that the woman who is said to have been forced in to an abortion while at a safe house at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman had not conceived.
Deputy General Manager of the Bureau Mangala Randeniya stated at a media briefing today that this was revealed during medical examinations.
The woman who had gone for a job in Oman in January had said that she was raped by her employer and had been directed to a safe house.
Her husband stated that later on Safe House officials had threatened her and forced her in to an abortion.
He had even submitted a complaint to the Human Rights Commission requesting legal action to be taken over the incident.
The woman in concern was present at today’s media briefing but had not made any statement.
