President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that nobody can deceive the people of this country.

He made this statement after the swearing-in ceremony of Shashindra Rajapaksa as Chief Minister of the Uva Provincial Council for the second term held at the Presidential Secretariat today.

The other UPFA members elected to the Uva Provincial Council also took oaths before the President during the same official ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, the President urged all members to work in unison.

However ministers for the Uva Provincial Council were not appointed during the swearing-in ceremony today.

When our news team contacted Uva PC Governor Nanda Mathew said ministers will be sworn-in after the inaugural session of the Provincial Council on October 9th.

Meanwhile the 9 students who excelled in the Year-5 scholarship examination and came first, second, third and fourth in the island met President Mahinda Rajapaksa today.

The president who appreciated the talents of the students later thanked the teachers, the principals and the parents for their commitment towards the achievement by the students.
