Director of the Health Ministry’s National AIDS Control Programme Dr. Sisira Liyanage states that HIV infected cases continued to show an alarming increase in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Liyanage said that the country had witnessed an increase in reported cases of HIV and AIDS this year.

Accordingly many programmes have been implemented to make the youth aware about the situation.

Dr Liyanage stated that the Higher education Ministry has made a request to conduct programmes to educate University students who are participating in the student leadership programme regarding AIDS.
