Bills related to local authorities to be taken up for debate.
Parliament will take up for debate Bills related to local authorities on the 9th, that will allow for heads of these bodies to remain in the office, even after their annual budgets are defeated.
Chief Government whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardana stated that a discussion will be held next Tuesday with the participation of representatives of all the political parties.
The 4 related pieces of legislation that will be amended are the Municipal Councils Ordinance, Urban Councils Ordinance, Pradeshiya Sabha Act and the Local Authorities Elections Act.
