Presidential election unnecessary till 2016: Left wing parties' request.
The left-winged coalitions of the UPFA government have requested the President and the SLFP, not to hold a Presidential election until 2016.
General Secretary of Sama Samaja Party Minister Tissa Vitharana told our news team that the request is already presented to the president in writing.
He also said a discussion with regard to their written request was held recently and senior minister DEW Gunasekera and Minister Wasudeva Nanayakkara participated in the discussion.
Senior Minister Tissa Vitharana points out that the holding of a presidential election early next year could be a disadvantage to the government.
He said the government can take several decisions for the benefit of the people as it has currently two third majority in parliament.
Meanwhile addressing a public meeting held at Harispattuwa in Kandy yesterday, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that the Opposition is in fear of a Presidential election.
