The met department states that a low pressure area has formed in the South-east Bay of Bengal and it will affect the weather over the deep and shallow sea areas off Eastern coasts by tomorrow onwards.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts particularly during the morning.

Thundershowers will develop at several places elsewhere during the afternoon or evening.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Duty meteorologist Channa Rodrigo requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
