President Mahinda Rajapaksa has given directive to reduce the price of a domestic gas by 250 rupees per cylinder with effect from tomorrow.
He was speaking at a ceremony organized to mark the Pensioners’ Day held at the Pensioners Holiday Resort at Wedamulla in Kelaniya this morning.
President Rajapaksa said the ruling government ended the era in which pensioners were dumped like toothpicks, and meted out justice to them.
Meanwhile Cooperative and Internal Trade Ministry stated in a notice that the gazette notification with regard to the new gas price will be issued tonight.
The ministry also says that the world gas price has declined to 756 US Dollars per metric ton by now from its previous price in January this year, 1 thousand17 US Dollars per metric ton.
The Internal Trade Ministry notice further states that the current domestic gas price 2 thousand 396 rupees will be reduced to 2 thousand 146 rupees per cylinder due to the new price reduction.

Domestic gas price reduced by 250 rupees on President's order
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed Finance Ministry officials to reduce the price of a domestic cylinder of LPG gas by 250 rupees.
President’s Media Unit stated that the President has give directive to slash gas price during a ceremony held to mark Pensioners’ Day held at the Pensioners Holiday Resort at Wedamulla in Kelaniya this morning.
The current price of a cylinder of domestic LPG gas is 2 thousand 486 rupees.
