Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera has pledged the Railway Graded Officers Trade Union Federation to discuss their salary anomalies and other matters with the President and give them a solution within two weeks.

The Finance Ministry Secretary has given this pledge during a meeting with the strikers held this afternoon.

However Railway Trade Unions who launched the strike since last midnight are discussing at this moment whether to call off the ongoing strike.

About 2500 railway workers representing 13 different trade unions including station masters, railway guards, engine drivers and operators have participated in the ongoing strike.

Meanwhile Railway Deputy Transport Director Vajira Saman Polwattage told our news team that the department was able to operate only 44 train journeys this morning.
