Political party leaders agreed to take a final decision on the dates for 2015 budget debate during a meeting held today.
Earlier the dates for the debate from October 25th to 30th were fixed for the second reading of the budget and dates from November 1st to November 18th fixed for the Committee level debate.
As the Opposition objected the government’s scheduled time table, news dates have been fixed from October 25th to November 1st for the second reading of the budget while November 3rd to November 22nd have been fixed for the Committee level debate.
However Opposition Whip MP John Amaratunga said that a final decision about the new time table will be taken during the next meeting tomorrow.
Meanwhile 5 draft amendment bills to Local Government Act were presented to parliament by Local Government and Provincial Council Deputy Minister Indika Bandaranayake today.
JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayaka was scheduled to make a statement in parliament today regarding the assault of Sri lanka High Commissioner to UK, Dr Chris Nonis.
However, he did not get the opportunity to address the parliament.
MP Anura Kumara questioned about it from the Deputy Speaker.
