Railway Graded Trade Union Collective states that they will continue the strike as the discussion held last evening with the finance ministry secretary Dr P B Jayasundara failed.
Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera has pledged the Railway Graded Officers Trade Union Federation to discuss their salary anomalies and other matters with the President and give them a solution within two weeks.
However, convener of the Railway Graded Trade Union Collective Jaanka Fernando stated that the following a discussion with the trade union collective members it was decided to continue the strike.
Secretary of the Railway Graded Trade Union Collective Sampath Rajitha stated that another discussion will be held at 9 am today and a final decision will be taken regarding the strike.
About 2500 railway workers representing 13 different trade unions including station masters, railway guards, engine drivers and operators have participated in the ongoing strike.
