Convener of the Railway Graded Officers Trade Union Federation Jaanaka Fernando stated that although the strike was called off respecting the court order, they will resort to trade union action in future if the authorities fail to provide solutions for their demands.

Janaka Fernando stated that the authorities did not give them the opportunity for a discussion.

Colombo District Magistrate Sujatha Alahapperuma who examined a petition filed by three railway commuters issued an injunction on the strikers by preventing the strike until the 24th of this month.

However our news team inquired about this allegation from Railways General Manger B A P Ariyarathna.

He stated that he is ready for a discussion with the trade unions.
