As a result of the strike launched by the wild life officials, several villagers bordering forests are facing a wild elephant threat.

Hambanthota – Balla – gaswawa and Ellala village residents and Anuradapura – Padaviya-  Omarakada and Uurawa villagers are facing the threat.

Villagers complain that wild life officers are not providing them with crackers to chase away the elephants.

However Chairman of the all island wild life officers union K D Thennakoon states that so far the authorities have failed to meet their demands.

We inquired about this situation from the Wild Life Ministry Secretary Udeni Wickramasingh.

He stated that he is not informed regarding a strike launched by the wild life officers.
