A teacher association joins Sabaragamuwa student's sathyagraha
Lanka Teachers’ Association has joined the Satyagraha of Sabaragamuwa University student activists in Pamba-hinna junction, Balangoda.
The General Secretary of the union, Joseph Starling, stated that they condemn the assault carried out on the students.
47 days have passed since the commencement of Satyagraha by Sabaragamuwa Students at Pamba-hinna junction, based on several demands including the removal of the ban imposed on Sabaragamuwa university student unions.
A group of people set fire to the Satyagraha stage on the 10th of this month.
However, the students have rebuilt a hut yesterday.
Student Activists committee spokesman Rasindu Jayasinghe requested the police to arrest perpetrators.
National Freedom Front also issued a statement regarding the assault carried out on Sabaragamuwa students.
Media spokesman of the party, Mohammed Musammil stated that an immediate investigation should be conducted regarding the incident.
