UPFA PC member assaults Mathara hospital security guards
Two security guards of the Matara General Hospital have charged that UPFA Southern Provincial Councilor Aruna Gunarathna assaulted them at the hospital premises yesterday.
The Hospital Security guards have asked a coordinating secretary of Provincial Councilor Aruna Gunarathna and former Pradeshiya Sabha member Ajith Paranavithana to move his vehicle after he dropped his expecting wife in front of the Emergency Unit.
At that point, an altercation has taken place between the security guards and Aruna Gunarathan’s coordinating secretary Paranavithana.
Matara hospital security OIC Sujith Priyantha told our news team that following a call by Paranavithana, Provincial Councilor Arnua Gunarathna who arrived in the hospital premises assaulted him and another security guard.
When our news team contacted Provincial Councilor Aruna Gunarathna said that he did not assault anybody.
However Aruna Gunarathna’s coordinating secretary Ajith Paranavithana has lodged a complaint with the Matara police.
However police media spokesman’s office stated that the security guards who were assaulted have not made a complaint as yet.
