UVA cabinet takes oaths today.
Political sources say that the new Uva Provincial Council cabinet is scheduled to be sworn in before President Mahinda Rajapaksa this forenoon.
Accordingly while Anura Vidanagamagey, Chaamara Sampath Dasanaayaka and Sentil Thondaman representing the Badulla District will receive posts as Ministers, Kumaarasiri Ratnaayake is scheduled to receive a Minister post from the Moneraagala District.
Shasheendra Rajapaksa took his oaths as the new Uva provincial council Chief Minister before the President on 30th of September.
On that occasion while the UPFA councilors took their oaths before the President, the swearing in of the cabinet was postponed.
Accordingly while the Uva Provincial Council gets another Ministry post in addition to the Chief Minister post from the Moneragala District, three Ministry posts are assigned to the council from the Badulla District.
Accordingly the Ceylon Workers’ Congress which contested in coalition with the UPFA also gets a Ministry post.
While the new Uva Provincial Council held its inaugural session on October 9th, on that occasion, A. H. Buddhadasa was appointed as the new Chairman, and Saaliya Sumedha was appointed as Deputy Chairman.
However, the day after the appointment Saaliya Sumedha resigned from the Deputy Chairman’s post, in anticipation of a Ministry post.
