Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka said that he would go to Geneva Human Rights Council against the removal of his name from the 2014 voter registration list.

Sarath Fonseka told our news team that the Election Commissioner has informed his party general secretary on last Wednesday about the removal of his name from the voter registration list on the instructions of the Attorney General.

Many believed Sarath Fonseka was stripped off his civil rights including voting rights as well as rights to contest elections after he was pardoned by the President.

However Sarath Fonseka cast his vote at the last Western Provincial Council election.

Sources from the Election Secretariat stated that Fonseka was able to cast his vote in the previous provincial council election as his name was included in the 2013 voter registration list.
