President Mahinda Rajapaksa presided over the commencement of the Divi Neguma National Program Phase Six at the auspicious time of 10.07 a.m. today.
A program to plant vegetable seeds, fruits, coconut, herbal and other plants will also take place in 14,022 Grama Seva Divisions parallel to this event.
The First Phase of Divi Neguma program held under the theme "A prosperous motherland " was launched in March 2011 with the objective of reviving and strengthening the economy, by raising family incomes.
Over 2.5 million people are participating in the Divi Neguma programme the progress of which is already being monitored by Economic Development Officers and Grama Seva Facilitators.
Divi Neguma 6th stage was also held with the participation of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa at Heenatiyana neighborhood in Katana electorate this morning.
Meanwhile the Divi Neguma program organized by the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat was held with the patronage of Colombo District MP R. Duminda Silva this morning.
MP R. Duminda Silva planted a mango tree in the garden of Sumith Mudalige where the program was held.
The MP also distributed seeds and plants among the attendees during the event.
MP R Duminda Silva stated that it is the responsibility of all to make sure President Mahinda Rajapakse achieves a landslide victory during the forthcoming presidential election.
