The protesters were attacked with tear-gas when they attempted to remove a police barrier and go forward just after passing the official residence of parliament Speaker.
The protest started from the Institute of Aesthetic Studies of the Colombo University at 2 in this afternoon, and students marched via Lotus Pond Roundabout, Horton Place, Independent Square, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Borella Junction, and Rajagiriya Ayurveda Roundabout before they reached the parliament entry road.
