The boy disappeared in Ambalangoda rescued from a beggar in Dambulla.-Video
The Dambulla Police rescued yesterday a 4-year old boy who was reported missing from the Ambalangoda Bus Stand in 2013.
Since then, the grand parents of the disappeared boy had searched through the country for their grand son, and they have displayed a photograph of the boy to residents when they visited Dambulla recently.
Later, on information provided by one of the residents, the grand parents sought police assistance to rescue the boy from the shackles of a beggar near Miris-goniya Bridge in Dambulla yesterday.
According to the boy’s Grand mother V. Vaduwel Sivapakam, the grand son’s name is Buddhika alias Subramaniam Arumugam.
She confessed to the police that the particular beggar made her drunk before he took away the boy.
Meanwhile the beggar has also claimed that he is the father of the boy. In his statement to police, the beggar has said that the boy’s birth certificate has been taken away by his estranged wife.
However the boy’s grand father has gone to inform the news to the parents living in Akuressa.
At the same time, Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that a DNA test is scheduled to be held to prove the paternity of the child.
Meanwhile the beggar has been remanded until the 13th of next month, when he was produced before the Dambulla Magistrate today.
Dambulla Acting Magistrate Nilukaa Wijerathna ordered the police to keep the child in the custody of Abhaya Children’s Home in Anuradhapura until the case is taken for the next hearing.
The Magistrate also ordered to take the case for next hearing before the Balapitiya Magistrate Court.
