UN humanitarian wing on standby to aid Sri Lanka after landslides

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said UN humanitarian agencies are on standby to help Sri Lanka after the disaster.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a daily news briefing that OCHA is in close contact with this Center and stands ready to support as requested.

The Sri Lankan Red Cross Society has mobilized first aid teams, while the World Health Organization is supporting the Ministry of Health efforts to assist the affected communities.
