The National Building Research Organization has extended the landslide warning imposed on 7 districts for 24 hours with effect from 6PM yesterday.

Accordingly, the warning has been issued for Badulla, Matale, Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Nuwara-eliya and Kalutara districts.

Deputy Media Director of the Disaster Management Centre Sarath Lal Kumara stated that over 10,000 persons were affected.

Meanwhile, Duty Meteorologist Darshana Premathilaka stated that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most provinces of the island particularly during the afternoon and night.
