Another body of a female has been found during search operations carried out in the Meeriya-bedda area in Koslanda this morning.

Central Province Security Commander Major General Mano Perera stated that it was a mid aged female.

The army has identified the location where the bodies and rubble from houses would have piled up, following the landslip.

Major General Mano Perera told our news team that the excavations are conducted aiming to clear the area.

He further requested from the general public not to arrive in the hopes of supplying food for the displaced persons, since the relief camps have received sufficient aid.

Meanwhile, public have been requested to refrain from arriving in Meeriya-bedda to view the landslide hit area.

Authorities in the area stated that the landslide risk still exists in the area and hence cautioned public from visiting the area.

Several families that were evacuated from the areas including Meeriyabedda, Haputale Ella, Passara, Bandarawela and Badulla divisional secretariats, are currently sheltered in several relief camps in the area.

According to the Badulla District Coordinator of the Disaster Management Centre -  E.M.L. Udaya-kumara, 3112 persons from 832 families are sheltered in these camps.
