The 2nd reading of the budget was passed in Parliament with a majority of 100 votes today. 157 voted for while 57 voted against the budget.

MP Rajeev Wijesingha, Deputy Minister Praba Ganeshana and MP J C Ranga were not present at the chambers during the vote taking.

JHU yesterday stated that they will abstain from voting.

Accordingly Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and MP Venerable Rathana Thero did not attend parliament today.

However, Sri lanka Muslim Congress voted for the budget.

UNP, TNA and the JVP voted against the budget.

MP Tiran Allas representing the Democratic National alliance did not attend parliament while MP Ajith Kumara who is an independent parliamentarian and MP Arjuna Ranathunga voted against the budget.
