Meanwhile the Disaster Management Centre said that 2500 individuals who have been displaced owing to the showers affecting several districts in the island, are placed in 20 camps.

Assistant Director of the Centre Pradeep Kodippili stated that over 11,000 persons were affected.

Meanwhile, during a media briefing convened by the alliance, Minister Susil Premajayantha stated that estate companies must focus their attention more on state employees.

Senior Geologist of the National Building Research Organization Gamini Jayathissa stated that the landslide warning issued for Badulla, Nuwara-eliya, Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts will continue.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Duty meteorologist Nadi Rupasingha requests the General public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
