A special hot line to alert about landslides risks

The National Building Research Organization requests the public if there is any instability in the premises they live to inform the NBRO.

Organization’s senior geologist Gamini Jayatissa said that such information could be provided using telephone number 011 2  588  946.

The geologist said that in addition advice could also be obtained from officials at his organization’s district offices.

Meanwhile the landslide warning declared in Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kandy, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts is still effective.

The National Building Research Organisation said that several special teams were carrying out observations in the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile the Disaster Mangement Centre said that 11 thousand 245 persons had been hit by the inclement weather.

The centre said further that throughout the island, 4810 persons had been displaced in 20 camps.
