3 bodies recovered today from Meeriyabadda; Land slide warning extended again.-Video #KoslandaLandslide
Central Province Security Commander Major General Mano Perera said that search team are conducting continuous operations in the Meeriyabadda area in Koslanda, Haldummulla despite rain and 3 more bodies were recovered today.
A body of an infant and 2 adults were recovered during the rescue operations increasing the total death toll to 9 persons.
Meanwhile the landslide warning declared in Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kandy, Ratnapura and Kalutara has been extended.
Senior Geologist of the National Building Research Organization Gamini Jayathissa said that several special teams were carrying out observations in the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Meanwhile the Disaster Mangement Centre said that 13 thousand 515 persons belonging to 3277 families had been adversely affected due to inclement weather.
The meteorology department states that Due to the atmospheric disturbance located to the northeast of Sri Lanka showers or thundershowers will be widespread with very heavy rain falls more than 150 mili meters in the Northern, North Central, Eastern and Uva provinces.
Duty meteorologist Dharshana Premathilaka stated Showers will occur at several places in the coastal areas around the island during morning.
