The landslide warning declared on the Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kegalle, Kandy, Ratnputa and Kalutara districts is still effective.

Senior National Building Research Organisation geologist Gamini Jayatissa said that the public should act with special vigilance on this.

Senior National Building Research Organisation geologist Gamini Jayatissa also said that steps would be taken to deploy several additional teams to the Badulla and Nuwara Eliya districts for investigation about landslides and earth slips today.

The meteorology department states that as the atmospheric disturbance is moving away from the island, thundershowers will be reduced.

Duty Meteorologist Buddihika Bandurathna said however, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places of the island during the afternoon.
