Police have initiated investigations to ascertain whether the fire-arms made illegally in a plant at Rakwana have been used to commit any crimes in the country.

The Kalutara Division Crime Investigation Unit arrested 7 suspects together with 18 revolvers made in this plant yesterday at Ratnapura, Rakwana, Navagamuwa and Hanwella areas.

The operator of the illegal fire-arms factory has also been taken into police custody and two revolvers made in his factory, one foreign made live grenade and an iron drilling machine were also found in his illegal plant.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said police are questioning the owner of the illegal fire-arms factory.
