25 families in Rakwana area in Rathnapaura have been evacuated due to landslide risks.

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management centre Pradeep Kodipillai stated that 1755 persons belonging to 479 families who were affected due to adverse weather are sheltered in 2 relief camps.

The meteorology department states that Few showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island.

Duty meteorologist Janaka Kumara stated that the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee and Pottuvil may be rough at times as winds can strengthen up to 50 to 60 kilo meters per hour.
