The number of people affected due to inclement weather in several districts has gone up.

The disaster management center stated that 22 thousand 105 persons belonging to 5 thousand 607 families are sheltered in makeshift camps.

Disaster Management Center Puttalam district coordinator Pathmasiri Talwatta said that traffic has been controlled on Mannar Puttalam road as the road is inundated near Eluwankulama Shoe Bridge.

Meanwhile a group of officers attached to the National Building Research Institute has gone to Nuwara Eliya to identify land areas that are prone to earth slips.

At the same time, Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G. Kumarasiri told our news team that the Building Research Institute officers informed him not to send back the evacuated people to their original homes as those areas are still vulnerable to landslides.
