466 workers of Kotaganga Estate in Rangala, Kandy which operates under the State Plantation Corporation, are currently staging a strike.

The workers are demanding against the estate administrative authorities for assigning them a limited number of days to work per month.

The trade union leader of Rangala estate laborers K.S. Mohan told our news team that they have submitted a letter to the Estate superintendent requesting for leave since 3 months.

Meanwhile, the residents of Aanawilundaawa area are staging a protest while blocking the traffic along Chilaw – Puttalam main road.

One of them stated that they’re protesting against the construction of a roofing sheet factory in the area.
