The President and the Indian Premier in a telephone conversation
A telephone conversation has taken place between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last night.
President’s spokesman Mohan Samaranayake stated that the two leaders exchanged views about the five Indian drug traffickers who have been sentenced to death by Colombo High Court on the 30th of October.
Meanwhile BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy issued a twitter message relevant to the telephone call between the two leaders of India and Sri Lanka.
In his twitter message, Subramaniam Swamy stated that the two leaders agreed to prepare letters with regard to implementing punishment at an Indian prison.
The Colombo High Court sentenced to death eight drug traffickers who posed as fishermen and engaged in narcotic dealing in international maritime waters.
Five among the narcotic gang are Indian nationals while the other three are Sri Lankans.
