Spinal cord of a university entrant damaged after falling from a wall during leadership training.
Inter University Students Federation disclosed today that a student who was following the University leadership training received injuries to her spinal cord after falling from a 7 foot high parapet wall.
Kaushalya Vijithalal of Lenadora in Dambulla was injured in this accident on the 8th of this month while undertaking the leadership training in Kalaththewa army camp in Anuradhapura.
The third phase of the leadership training for university entrants started on the 30th of last month at 20 camps throughout the island.
The Higher Education Ministry stated that 6,648 students are participating in this training on leadership skills and attitude development.
Inter University Students Federation convener Najith Indika expressed his views during a media briefing held in Colombo this afternoon.
When contacted Higher Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navarathna said that he was not aware of the incident as yet.
