Convener of the National Council for a Clean tomorrow Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero says that a policy-wise government change would definitely be brought about.
The Thero points out that he made a sacrifice on behalf of this and accepted the dangers.
The rally organized by the National Council for a Clean Tomorrow on several demands including the abolishing of the Executive Presidency was held yesterday at the Muttiah Park near Gangaramaya temple.
Representatives from several political parties including Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and JVP Western Provincial Council member K.D. Lal Kantha are participating in the meeting.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, MPs Sajith Premadasa, John Amaratunga, Lakshman Kiriella, Karu Jayasuriya, and Wijedasa Rajapaksa have also joined the meeting.
It is significant to witness the presence of MP Mangala Samaraweera who was caught in recent rumors of defection during this rally at Muttiah Park.
MP Arjuna Ranatunga was also among the participants in addition to MP Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Omalpe Sobhitha Thera and Western Provincial Council member Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe.
However Democratic Party Leader Sarath Fonseka and JHU Secretary Minister Patalee Champika Ranawaka did not attend the meeting.
It is also significant to witness the presence of Minister Rajitha Senarathna’s son Chatura Senarathna at the meeting.
